Garden Renovation with Patios, Decking & Artificial Turf – Great Moor, Stockport

Project Overview

This full garden renovation in Great Moor, Stockport transformed a previously uneven and weather-affected garden into a modern, low-maintenance outdoor space with clearly defined zones. Despite working through persistent wet conditions, the project was completed using robust construction methods and high-quality materials throughout.

The finished garden now features two Indian stone patios, a raised composite decking area, and a neat artificial grass lawn, creating a clean and practical layout suitable for year-round use.

The Brief

The client wanted a garden that was easy to maintain while still offering separate areas for seating, relaxing, and general use. With ground conditions made more challenging by ongoing wet weather, solid groundwork and proper preparation were essential to ensure a long-lasting result.

Garden Pride carried out the full project from start to finish.

Construction & Materials

  • Indian Stone Patios
Two patio areas were installed using random pattern Indian stone in Kandla Grey. Each patio was constructed on a compacted MOT sub-base, fully bedded on a cement slurry bed to improve strength and durability. The paving was completed with traditional pointing, giving a clean, hard-wearing finish designed to cope with the UK climate.

  • Composite Decking Area
A raised decking section was built using a treated 4×2 timber frame, with all components securely screwed together for stability. The decking was finished in silver grey composite boards, including a matching grey step edge to clearly define levels and improve access between areas of the garden.

  • Artificial Turf Installation
The lawn area was completed with artificial turf, installed over a newly prepared sub-base with a weed control membrane beneath. The turf was carefully laid and fully secured around the edges, resulting in a tidy, low-maintenance finish that complements the surrounding hard landscaping.

The Result

The completed garden now offers a smart, contemporary outdoor space with strong visual balance and clearly defined zones. The combination of natural stone, composite decking, and artificial grass provides a practical solution that looks good in all seasons and requires minimal upkeep.

Despite difficult weather conditions during the build, the project was delivered to a high standard. The client was delighted with the finished result and left Garden Pride a fabulous review following completion.
